Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was a French artist known for his colorful and vibrant work and his experimental use of art techniques and styles. Gauguin is considered one of the pioneers of the modernist art movement of the late 19th century.

Gauguin was born in Paris in 1848, but his family moved to Peru when he was young. After returning to France at the age of 17, he worked as a stock broker and developed an interest in fine art as a hobby. After experiencing failures in his business, he decided to become a full-time artist in 1883.

Gauguin's works often feature depictions of humans and non-European cultures, such as Polynesia and Tahitian, as well as the use of bright, sharp colors. He made frequent use of techniques such as woodcut and lithography, and was known for his experimental and unconventional style of drawing.

Some of Gauguin's famous works include "The Yellow Christ" (1889), "Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?" (1897-1898), and "Tahitian Women on the Beach" (1891). Although he is considered a great artist, Gauguin did not gain recognition for his work until after his death.

Gauguin died at Hiva Oa, Marquesas in 1903 at the age of 54. His works continue to be a source of inspiration for many artists and art enthusiasts around the world to this day.
