Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) was an American artist known for his innovative and expressive works of art. He is known as one of the most famous experimental abstract artists of the 20th century.
Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming in 1912 and spent most of his childhood in the western United States. He studied art in New York City in the early 1930s and by the end of the decade had begun to develop a painting technique he called "dripping" or "action painting". This technique involves throwing, dripping, and splashing paint onto the canvas spontaneously and unexpectedly, without any prior planning or sketching.
Pollock's works are often seen as an expression of the movement and emotions that lie behind the movements of his body when he creates his paintings. He is known as one of the artists who connected his physicality with his art, and his work is often seen as a visual representation of the movements and rhythms created by the human body.
Some of Pollock's notable works include "Autumn Rhythm (Number 30)" (1950), "Blue Poles: Number 11" (1952), and "Number 1A, 1948" (1948). Although his work was controversial at first, Pollock became widely known during his lifetime and is recognized as one of the most significant artists in the history of United States fine art. He died in a car accident in 1956, at the age of 44.
